Phil

Phil worked for the NHS in Liverpool; he was part of the team implementing the new IT systems throughout the North Mersey region. He took great pride in his work, and was a well liked and respected member of the team. Phil had a brilliant mind and where computers were concerned there was very little Phil didn’t know. He was ‘sought out’ by many for his expertise in this field both in his private and work life. Phil had a passion for learning and then imparting that knowledge to others. He loved mathematics and helped many people in his life time to achieve excellent results in this field by giving them extra tuition. He was an inspiration to many that he taught, and was looked up to for his wealth of knowledge, the simple fact was that Phil really wanted them to do well and achieve all they could. Phil was a generous man in many ways; he gave so much of himself to others. He would go out of his way to get anything for anyone if he thought it would help. Phil was a warm-hearted honest man who gave so much to his family, friends and work colleagues. Phil was very much a part of the 1st Eastham Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association at St. David’s Church, always there at events & camps etc. He taught computers, navigation, map reading and archery to the members. Phil ran a walking club for the Church and BB members, and many a happy Sunday afternoon was spent in the North Wales and Cheshire countryside walking, with Phil leading the way. Ensuring over the years that the group members learnt all that was needed to navigate and remain safe in the hills. Many of the Church members called on Phil for his expertise in computers and other technical things. Phil served with the armed forces for over 10 years, serving in Germany, Northern Ireland, Belize, Cyprus and the UK. Phil also served with the Special Forces. Phil will be greatly missed by so many; he was such a large part of so many lives. He was a big man in many ways, a gentle giant. His wife and both his sons feel that the time we had with him has been an utter privilege and we are proud to call ourselves ‘Phil’s family’. He came into our world nineteen years ago and became quite simply the best husband and Dad anyone could wish for.
