Soft Summer Green
Don't grieve for me, don't break the heart
That ever bears my name,
Soft summer green may turn to gold
But love will still remain.
Would I betray you now, my love,
Because my race is run?
Do we not share the good and ill
And face the world as one?
The arms that held you, hold you, still,
The knowing eyes still shine,
And I am yours in bond and vow
And you forever mine.
For all those precious days we've shared
Are links upon the chain,
Unbroken as it ever was
For love will still remain.
Remember me the way I was,
Be not afraid to smile,
It falls on you to live your life
And go the extra mile.
I'll still be here, a word away,
In silence and in space.
Where would I go? How could I change?
I know no other place.
There lies your strength against the tears,
Your power against the pain,
A page may turn, a chapter close,
But love will still remain.
Don't close your eyes to little things
On which the breezes blow,
Don't hide from blessings we received
And joys we came to know.
Let others learn from our beliefs
Of summits they may climb,
The value they should place on love,
The pricelessness of time.
And teach the sweet, abiding truth
Of constancy's refrain,
Soft summer green will turn to gold..........
.........but love will still remain.
